Bleed Blocker

Water Resistant Acrylic Base Coat for Smooth Asphalt Surfaces

Bleed Blocker is a plasticizer-free, single-component, water-based, 100% acrylic elastomeric coating engineered for maximum adhesion and bleed-through resistance over smooth asphalt—even in the presence of water. It is formulated to act as a barrier that blocks discoloration, keeping asphaltic bleed from staining the finished system.

Designed as a base coat for built-up and modified bitumen substrates, Bleed Blocker may be used over smooth or granulated surfaces and adheres to most aluminized coatings (adhesion should be verified before application). Reinforced with polyester mesh fabric it is designed to tolerate some standing water, and it breathes—providing a completely watertight membrane while allowing trapped moisture to escape.

Features & Benefits

Blocks Bleed-Through and Discoloration
  • Formulated to act as a barrier that blocks discoloration

Take Action Today and Stop Asphalt Bleed Before It Starts

Asphaltic bleed can discolor a finished roof long after the crew has packed up. Bleed Blocker shuts that down at the base coat—bonding to smooth asphalt even in the presence of water, tolerating some standing water when reinforced with fabric, and breathing so trapped moisture escapes instead of blistering the system. Paired with a suitable top coat, it forms an exceptional protective system for asphaltic membranes.
